  • What if I need true 24-hr and won't be able to provide my NCS with a break?
There are circumstances that may prevent you from being able to relieve your newborn care specialist for a break. Perhaps your recovery prevents you from being physically able to care for your newborn on your own, or maybe you are looking for 24-hr care while you are away from home. No matter your circumstance, Rest Easy recognizes your need. If you require true 24-hr care, you'll be billed at a rate of $960/day.
  • What is 24-hour care and how does it work?
24-hr care is ideal for families who have unpredictable schedules, are expecting multiple babies, or simply want around the clock expert care for their newborn. When you hire Rest Easy Newborn Care for 24-hr care, your newborn care specialist will be in your home and caring for your newborn around the clock. You and your NCS will work together in order to develop a routine that allows you the flexibility to shift your focus from your newborn to your other responsibilities while guaranteeing your newborn receives consistent quality care. During a typical 24-hr shift, your NCS will require a minimum of 4 hours to rest, so you will need to provide a private sleeping area for them and ensure that they have access to a bathroom (and shower if longer than one 24-hour period). Your NCS can be booked for 24-hr care for as little as 1 day and up to 2 weeks at a time.
  • Does Rest Easy Newborn Care provide long term 24-hr care?
Rest Easy Newborn Care can provide up to two weeks of 24-hr care. If you're interested in having 24-hr care for a longer period of time, Rest Easy is happy to work with a second (and possibly third) newborn care professional in rotation to fulfill your service needs. By utilizing a rotating schedule with multiple service providers, you will have uninterrupted care and your newborn care professionals will have the opportunity to rest during their week(s) off, coming back refreshed and ready to provide the quality care you expect! (For example: NCS 1 works two weeks, NCS 2 works the next two weeks, NCS 1 works the following two weeks, etc..)
  • Does an NCS sleep during an overnight shift?
While a newborn care specialist is working in your home overnight, their top priority is to care for your baby’s needs and to accomplish baby-related chores. When chores are taken care of and your newborn is sleeping, your NCS may use that time to rest while remaining immediately available to care for your baby’s needs when they arise. There will need to be a designated space in your home for the NCS to rest when possible. This space can be a mattress set up in the nursery, a guest room, or another arrangement you might discuss with your NCS. If you prefer, you can request that your NCS stay awake through the entirety of their shift. This is referred to as “awake overnight care”. Awake overnight care starts at $40/hour and may have limited availability. Visit the Contact page to connect with Rest Easy Newborn Care about booking awake overnight care.
  • When are overnight services available and how long should I hire a Newborn Care Specialist?
Overnight care is provided any day of the week in blocks of at least 8 hours. A typical overnight shift is 9:00 pm to 7:00 am, but the hours can be shifted to suit your schedule. You may elect to utilize these services 1-7 days a week. Many families use overnight care 3-5 nights per week. It is also typical for families to use these services more frequently (i.e. 5 nights a week) when their baby is born, lowering the frequency of care once their child begins sleeping for longer stretches overnight and eventually ending overnight services once baby is sleeping through the night consistently. Many families hire a Newborn Care Specialist for 6-12 weeks following the birth of their child(ren), but the length of time you choose to utilize services is completely up to you. If you're a seasoned parent who just needs some extra help adjusting to your new routine, perhaps two weeks is enough to leave you feeling supported and confident moving forward. If you're a new parent, you're expecting multiple babies (twins, triplets, etc) or know that your child will require extra care due to medical or developmental needs, perhaps you'll want services for several months. We can discuss your needs during a consultation if you're feeling unsure of what may be best for you.

Your NCS will bring baby to you and will make sure you have everything you need to breastfeed comfortably. After you've finished feeding your baby, your NCS will handle burping, changing their diaper, and soothing them back to sleep.
